Unpublished Results

In a series of experiments we investigated the relation between the feeling of control and magical thinking. Starting from the idea that people turn to magical thinking as a way to cope with feelings of low personal control, we investigated whether a control-threat manipulation would result in a stronger engagement in magical thinking. This project was conducted by Paul Lodder and the results of this project can be found here.

In follow-up experiments the effects of control-threat on belief in conspiracy theories, paranormal beliefs and belief in a controlling God was investigated. The results from these projects will be published here as well.
